Thuringowa State High School is the Queensland Winner of the 2020 Resilient Australia School Award.

The Queensland Virtual STEM Academy at Thuringowa State High School, worked in collaboration with the Townsville City Council to create and deliver the Disaster Resilience for a Changing Climate Grand Challenge.  Students from 13 schools in North Queensland have already completed the Grand Challenge and it will be on offer again in 2021.   We are developing our students' STEM capabilities and empowering them to be resilient community members.  Life skills needed as climate change results in more intense disasters.
