In 2024, the department provided $1.5 million in one-off funding shared between 861 selected schools to help them enhance existing or establish new food programs. Queensland state schools receiving the funding were able to use the funds to purchase healthy food to improve the quality and capacity of their existing food program, purchase equipment needed to support their program or establish a new or expanded model for their food program. Thuringowa SHS were able to purchase additional toasters and toasted sandwich machines to facilitate our Breakfast and Lunch Clubs. Along with our partnerships with Fuel for Schools and Eat Up Australia, this has allowed us to feed over 300 students per week for the entirety of the year. We are very grateful for the Queensland Government's initiative and our partnerships to keep our students fuelled for learning.
