Thuringowa State High School is situated in Vickers Road South in the heart of Riverway in the City of Townsville and opened in 1987.
In its short history, the school has developed a fine tradition for academic excellence, sporting and cultural achievement and vibrant community spirit. It is especially noted for its small size, range of opportunities, Global Tropics Future Young Scholars, iSTEM program for Year 7, 9 and 10 to extend and engage students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, representative rugby league, Australian rules football, netball, basketball, football (soccer) girls and boys sporting teams, acclaimed theatre restaurant, a very successful and pioneering Vocational Education Program.
Thuringowa State High School serves students in Years 7 to 12, predominantly from its neighbourhood suburbs of Condon, Rasmussen, Kelso and Kirwan. Our students come from varied social, cultural and economic backgrounds and we provide initiatives designed to cater for the needs of all students. The school has developed a strong tradition of providing its students with a large number of educational opportunities with an emphasis on development and extension of the individual.
