Thuringowa State High School is a “great school with great opportunities!" The school, opened in 1987 and is situated on Vickers Road South in the heart of Riverway in the City of Townsville.
Thuringowa State High School has developed a fine tradition for academic excellence, sporting and cultural achievement and a vibrant community spirit. It is especially noted for its small size and range of opportunities including; the Queensland Virtual Academy, an iSTEM program for Years 7 – 10 to extend and engage students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, representative rugby league, Australian rules football, netball, basketball, football (soccer) girls and boys sporting teams, a strong instrumental music programme, an acclaimed Theatre Restaurant and a very successful and pioneering Vocational Education Program.
Thuringowa State High School serves students in Years 7 to 12, predominantly from the neighbouring suburbs of Condon, Rasmussen, Kelso and Kirwan. Our students come from varied social, cultural and economic backgrounds and we provide initiatives designed to cater for the needs of all students. The school has developed a strong tradition of providing its students with a large number of educational opportunities with an emphasis on development and extension of the individual.
